Welcome to Okiwa Bay Lodge, which has been our home for many years. Some might say that we’re fortunate as this beautiful piece of land here is like a veritable playground to us. If you’re looking for the great outdoors but not looking to sacrifice the comforts of home and some good food when you get back from hiking or fishing, then Okiwa Bay Lodge is your place. Our lodge here in Queen Charlotte is located right at the end of the Queen Charlotte Track and makes for a perfect venue for celebrating anniversaries, weddings, or honeymoons. We are also stocked with art supplies if you’d like to spend time painting with all that nature around!

The town has a rich historical past as a Maori settlement and fishing village, which can be experienced by visiting the local museum. The Edwin Fox museum is superb, showing one of the world’s oldest ships with a varied and colorful history as a warship, transportation vessel for meat and travelers, an ice storm, and a storage vessel for coal used at the food factory Picton.

With a population of 5,500 that swells to up to 15,000 in summer, Picton has evolved into a buzzing community with an eclectic mix of cafés and restaurants, many of which showcase local seafood. Visitors can while away the hours relaxing on the foreshore, absorbing the tranquil surroundings, enjoying a local bush walk offering breathtaking views, or by getting out on the water to experience the Queen Charlotte
